2019 Award Winner

The 2019 Dr. Robert J. Dunlop Student Scholar Award winner is Jackie Vizcaino from Texas Tech University.  She is currently completing her fourth year experience at Scott and White. Her nominating professors describe her as exhibiting outstanding leadership and professional involvement as well as  having excellent academic and clinical skills. She is also very active in advocacy areas. She has been part of teams who participate in advocating for our profession and our patient needs in Washington, DC in April of 2018. She has been a member of TTUHSC Student Academy of Audiology serving as secretary (2017-2018) and president (2018-2019). In this role she organized the Halloween festival with Buckhart Autism Center and Texas Tech Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic. She coordinated Special Olympics Healthy Hearing for the games in Austin in 2019. She serves on the National Student Academy of Audiology Development Committee and TSHA Audiology Advisory Committee. Jackie is active in TAA as the student liaison for Texas Tech and she helped to plan student activities for the 2018 TAA conference in the Woodlands. She participated in the Student Leaders in Audiology Conference of AAA.

Jackie received a $500 award along with this honor. Congratulations Jackie!
