Creig Dunkel

Creig Dunckel was an audiologist, practice-owner, and educator, known and respected by audiologists in Texas and across the world. He and his family lived in the Dallas area for 42 years, where he established several successful practices. In addition to his private practices, he was a consultant and educator for ReSound and for Oticon.

Creig had a heart for students and a gift for teaching. He had a knack for sharing his knowledge of audiology and practice management with others. He was intelligent, warm, witty, and charming, bringing all of these characteristics into his teaching style. His teaching, supervision, mentorship, support, and encouragement impacted hundreds of audiologists, not only in Texas, but throughout the nation.

Creig was a long time and loyal attendee at the Scott Haug Foundation Annual Audiology Retreat. He always looked forward to the annual golf tournament, as he was an avid and skilled golfer; but, more than that, he loved the camaraderie of this tournament and all of the other Retreat courses and activities.

Creig’s memory and love for teaching will carry on with the establishment of the Creig Dunckel Memorial Fund.

Robert Dunlop

Dr. Robert J. Dunlop was a very special friend and treasured colleague of the Scott Haug Foundation, the Veterans Healthcare System, and the Texas Audiology communities.

Dr. Dunlop influenced countless audiologists throughout his many years as chief of the Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System Audiology Program in Temple, Texas. His countless contributions to the national VA Audiology program and to his fellow veterans included his outstanding service as president of the Academy of VA Audiologists (AVAA), member of the national VA Audiology Field Advisory Council, and chairman of the VA Advanced Clinical Access Committee for Audiology. The latter had a significant impact on VA Audiology service delivery across the country, including championing the utilization of audiology health technicians in VA clinics nationally. Bob devoted many years to our field, including several years in private practice following his retirement from the VA in 2008. He was known for his proactive approaches to providing the best hearing healthcare possible.

Bob was a member and attendee of the Annual Scott Haug Audiology Retreat for many years. He also gave his service as a member of the Board of Directors of the Scott Haug Foundation. He was a longstanding member of the Texas and American Academies of Audiology.

Bob was an avid golfer who carried a single-digit handicap, earning the nickname ‘Good Shot Bob.’ He always looked forward to playing in our annual SHF golf tournament.

The effects of Bob’s loss are immeasurable, but his legacy of integrity, compassion, and professionalism continues with the establishment of the Dr. Robert J. Dunlop Memorial Fund.
