Outstanding Texas Audiologist Award

The Scott Haug Outstanding Texas Audiologist Award is presented in recognition of a Texas audiologist (living or deceased) who, through their work in the profession of audiology, in their service to individuals with hearing loss, or in volunteer efforts related to the field of hearing health care have made outstanding contributions.

Purpose

The spirit of this honor is derived from the attributes of Texas audiologist, Scott Haug, who worked to further the profession throughout his career. He provided compassionate hearing health care to his patients and mentored students, clinical fellows, and colleagues alike through his example of dedication to our profession.

Definition

This recognition will be awarded annually to an audiologist (living or deceased) who has made significant contributions to the profession of audiology in general or specifically in any of the following areas of the field: education, research, outreach, innovation, or business. Candidates are those who, through their efforts, have contributed to the advancement of individuals with hearing impairment. Nominees for this award and those who place an individual in nomination must be audiologists who are or have been practicing in the state of Texas and who are currently members of the Texas Academy of Audiology.

Nominating Process

An individual may be nominated through the submission of a letter of nomination, a letter seconding the nomination, and a vita (if available) submitted to the Scott Haug Foundation Board.

Additional supporting documentation will assist in the decision making process. These items (hard copy or electronic) must be received by the Foundation no later than June 30.  The address for hard copy submissions is:

Board Action

The Board will review all the nomination letters and consider all nominations that are judged to be qualified for the award. Majority vote of the Board of Directors of the Scott Haug Foundation will determine the award recipient. The award winner and the nominating individual will be notified by August 31.

Award

The selected recipient will be presented with the award at the Texas Academy of Audiology annual conference.
